Corvinus launches 7 cross-semester specialist postgraduate programs – one of those in English

The name of the cross-semester academic specialisation course in English is corporate internal and executive coach. The aim of the 2 semesters specialist postgraduate program is to help internal coaches, HR professionals and top managers to develop their coaching competencies.

The program fully complies with International Coaching Federation (ICF) standards to guarantee high levels of professionalism, Corvinus website says.

Graduates of the program receive both university certificate and also a certificate on the completion of coach training hours accredited by ICF. Students completing the program receive a vocational certificate (Corporate and Executive Coach).

Former students, and when at least 3 employees from the same company enrol in the program, receive a discount on the price of the courses.

We reported earlier that from September 2023, Corvinus will launch three English-language programs that have not been available in Hungary before. Two of them (Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Data Science in Business) will be launched as a bachelor’s program (BA), while Political Economy as a master’s program (MA).

MOME’s new English-language MA offers a specialisation in video games

From the academic year 2023/24, MA programmes in Animation and Design will be offered only in English at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, so that together with the two English MA programmes (Photography, Interaction Design) launched in September 2022, four English-language programmes will be available to MA students from the next academic year.

In its press release announcing the launch of the new programmes, MOME emphasises that it launched its English language programmes in September 2022 with the aim of being able to attract talents from the Baltics to the Western Balkans. MOME says that the launch of the two new English-language programmes represents another important milestone in this process. The university aims to become the most recognised university in the creative domain in Central Europe by 2030.

The English-language MAs are also available to students from Hungary and EEA countries, potentially with state-funding covering the entire tuition in case they submit their application through the Hungarian admission system.

Design MA

The Design MA, one of the new English-language programmes to be launched in autumn 2023, aims “to train designers whit a strategic approach and proactive entrepreneurial mindset who can understand the world in a broader context”.

It includes two specialisations:

  • Strategic Product Innovation focuses on the research and design of human-scale objects, object systems and related services that reflect social and cultural needs in a complex fashion,
  • Smart Mobility explores solutions to responsibly address the transport challenges of the future.

Career opportunities:

  • Lead Product Designer
  • Design Strategist
  • Mobility Design Expert

Animation MA

Animation MA will be the other new English programme which will be launched in September 2023. Apart from launching its programme entirely in English language from September 2023 Animation MA extends its portfolio by adding two new lines of specialisation to the existing Animation Director program:

  • Video Game studies,
  • Immersive Storytelling.

The Video Game specialisation aims to respond to the increasing need for game designers in the Central and Eastern European region. Students who choose the program will learn about game mechanics, game design, developing, prototyping and producing video games and learn about the game industry. The programme’s goal is to train designers who will be able to create engaging video games and work in this sector by founding their own company or by joining renowned production houses, MOME says in its website.

The Immersive Storytelling specialisation provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge on designing immersive narrative spaces and working in virtual and extended reality environments. The program also focuses on virtual production technology, which is highly interested in recent years’ filmmaking. The Immersive Storytelling program’s goal is to support non-linear formats, experimental storytelling and encourage students to work with creative technologies.

Career opportunities:

  • Animation Director
  • Character Designer
  • Game Graphics Developer
  • Level Designer
  • Previsualisation Artist
  • Interactive Art Creator
  • Digital Content Designer

Photography MA

Photography MA, which has a nearly 40-year history, has been available only in English from September 2022. It trains “open-minded and highly autonomous artists who are able to respond sensitively and progressively to the challenges of the world, supported by state-of-the-art technology and renowned teachers”, MOME’s information website says about the programme.

The programme covers “the development and full-spectrum implementation of long-term photography projects; design and art research; the development of the Central and Eastern European vision of the genre; and the exploration of its intersections”.

BME and Corvinus also launch new English-language programmes

From September 2023, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) will launch a new English-language bachelor training programme in physics and engineering, the first of its kind in Hungary, in response to the shortage of specialists in innovative companies.

From the next academic year, Corvinus University of Budapest will launch three English-language programmes that have not been available in Hungary before. Two of them (Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Data Science in Business) will be launched as bachelor’s programme (BA), while Political Economy will be launched as a master’s programme (MA).

Harvard professors come to Semmelweis

Under the terms of the letter of agreement, which was signed on 9 December, the HMS’s Central Europe Clinical Scholars Research Training program will start in July 2023 and run through June 2026.

The US institution will be responsible for the curriculum and delivery of the training. Semmelweis University (SE) will contribute 50 per cent of the tuition costs for 50 participants in each annual program, or $250,000 per year for this purpose. The program is also open to candidates from neighbouring countries in the Central and Eastern European region – SE said in a press release.

The curriculum will help participants to develop skills essential to pursue high-quality clinical research, including epidemiology, biostatistics, ethics, and leadership.

Students enrolled in the nine-month program will participate in live workshops and webinars, complete individual and team assignments, and independently engage with hours of on-demand, recorded lectures.

[kiemelt]On average, participants are expected to spend 7-10 hours per week with the program content and projects. Three residential workshops anchor the program: Workshop 1 in Budapest, Workshop 2 online, and Workshop 3 in Boston.[/kiemelt]

Participants who have satisfactorily completed the program requirements shall receive a Certificate of Completion signed by the course director(s).

HMS chose the SE for a reason: as we wrote in the autumn, Semmelweis became the first Hungarian university to be ranked among the top 250 universities in the world by Times Higher Education (THE). We reported also earlier that in the US News Best Global Universities 2023 ranking, Semmelweis University has moved up 12 positions from last year’s ranking in cardiology and cardiovascular systems, to 43rd position.

Such a training programme has never been launched in Hungary

The launch of the training is justified by the fact that a large number of technology-intensive R&D companies in Hungary and abroad are looking for professionals with natural science and engineering skills who can engage in creative R&D tasks, the BME said.

BME predicts that physics and engineering graduates will immediately get a job after leaving the university. In its press release about the launch of the new training, the university mentions several large companies (Bosch, Semilab, 77 Elektronika, Femtonics, Furukawa Electric, Magnetec) where physics engineering students can start their careers as interns during their training.

The new bachelor training programme will focus on these areas:

  • Semiconductor technology
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Data Science
  • Nanotechnology
  • Materials Science
  • Medical devices
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Quantum technology
  • Nuclear technology
  • Optics and photonics
  • Computer modelling

Market-oriented specialisations will be available in the following areas:

  • Nanotechnology and quantum applications
  • Nuclear technologies and sustainable energy
  • Natural sciences data analysis

We recently reported that BME became the best Hungarian university in the field of employer reputation in this year’s Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Higher Education Ranking.
